Firecracker 5000 2017

7.4.17

year 4 for this one for me.

In 2015, I set a (then) PR in this race at 24:27.  I know this course well and know that fast times are possible.

This one would be a family affair.  Griff and  I would run, and, Lindsi would push Gage in the stroller.

We arrived a mild temps for July.  It would be a good day to run.  That said, my legs were feeling a little tired, and, I didn't feel well rested.  I was curious to see how I'd feel once we got moving.

Much like my last T5000, I hoped to run low 8's and maintain.

I got out to a comfortable start, and was pacing low 8's...I believed I could settle in.  Mile 1: 8:10.  We circled back onto the trail and I passed a few folks as we headed north.  Mile 2: 8:04...perfect. Now, just hang on.

I continued to push through mile 3, and booked 8:12.  7:45 pace for the .1, and a total time of 25:15.  Not where I want to be, but, a big improvement over my last few races.  My time was good for only 7th in my AG.  Some fast folk out there for this one.

Griff came in next, booking a 34:16.  Lindsi and Gage walked this one, but, got it done!

2017:  25:15
2016:  26:58
2015:  24:27
2014:  25:44
