1.19.14
In an effort to find another January event, I stumbled upon this one. The price was hard to ignore, as it was only $12 for non-members of FWRC. The right knee is still sore, but, my mileage has been increasing, due to the training for the 70.3. I knew that running this race would mean running a shorter distance than scheduled for the day, but, I figured I could run for speed. It has been my goal to finish a 10k in less than 1 hour. I wanted today to be the day. It was a chilly morning, with temps in the mid-30's to start. It also appeared that it would be a small group, as, looking around at the start, it seemed as if only about 75 people were there (race results showed approx 90). I got off to a good start and maintained a sub-10 minute pace throughout. My Garmin showed a longer distance than 6.2, and even with the longer distance, I ran a 57:22. A PR, and under 1 hour. I felt really good about this one. And, I took 3rd in my age group. I might be starting to figure this running thing out. As a side note, I suspect we will join FWRC.
