The offseason.

Due to short days and cold weather, my riding came to a screeching halt in December.  For a 2 month period, I had no time in the saddle. The solution...indoor cycling. I found myself quite fond of this offseason option, and, found that in 45 minutes, with a good instructor, I could burn 800+ calories. I found myself taking 3-4 classes a week, and quickly realized who the great instructors were. Fortunately, there was no shortage of great instructors at the Y at White Rock. While I was a bit concerned about how the time off from the bike might impact me, I found that I was able to maintain a healthy weight, and, when I returned to the bike, I felt strong due to all of the indoor cycling. I may consider an indoor trainer in the future, but, indoor cycling was a great option.
